I grew up in a aviation family. My dad has been a pilot my whole life. People have this glamorous idea of piloting a interstellar transport vessel. When people find out that it means being away from home 90% of the year, and being exposed to high doses of radiation, they are not so keen on it anymore. At school I tell 'm my father is something of a space-miner. And in a way that's just what he is. A miner, mining minerals, on a different world, trying to save this one. And with the global population at 14 billion and rising, interstellar mining could hold the key to mankind's survival.
